Yūji (ゆうじ ), full name Yūji Munakata (宗方 裕二 Munakata Yūji ), is a recurring antagonist who first appeared in Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun: Bangai Rantō Hen. He is the only son of the President of Munakata Kogyo and is protected by Munakata employees in addition to his own gang. Despite his looks, Yūji is described as being capable, though he does act like a play-boy and will go for any girl that catches his eye.
Appearances[]
Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun: Bangai Rantō Hen[]
Yūji was passing by Nekketsu High School and spotted Mihoko, to which he fell in love instantly and would attempt to take her. Hiroshi stops him and helps Mihoko escape, though Yūji's goons would catch up to Hiroshi and beat him up. With Kunio having heard the news and Riki fed up with Yūji terrorizing Hanazono High School, the two set off to Munakata Industries to put a stop to Yūji and force him to apologize.
During the finale of the game, Yūji will appear on the top floor of Munakata Industries and appears confused as he doesn't recognize who Kunio and Riki are. Yūji assumes they want to fight him and attempts to begin explaining that Hiroshi was only beaten up because in his eyes he was always getting in the way at the worst times, though he is interrupted by an angry Kunio and begins to fight the two. Upon being defeated, Yūji is seen on his knees in the hospital apologizing to Hiroshi while Kunio and Riki stand right beside him.
River City Super Sports Challenge ~All Stars Special~[]
Yūji appears as a character unlocked from winning a game with Hiroshi as a captain in free battle. Yūji is able to use the Tornado Punch and the Dragon Tail Kick.

River City Melee Mach!![]
River City Saga: Three Kingdoms[]
Yūji plays the role of Yuan Shu, an envious military commander in the late Han dynasty and cousin of Yuan Shao (Tōdō).
In the story mode, Yuan Shu is first seen in the second chapter during the coalition meeting in the castle of Chen Liu. Yuan Shu is talking about being the perfect pick to manage rations while also suggested that the vanguard should be chosen next. With the room going silent, Sun Jian (Maeda) volunteers to be the vanguard, to which Yuan Shu agrees that because he helped out against the Yellow Turbans, they'll be able to rest easy against Dong Zhuo (Sabu)'s army. Sun Jian gets ready to leave to the Hulao Pass, though Yuan Shu reminds him to not make a spectacle of himself and to leave the provisions to him, as he believes his family are the heroes. With Sun Quan (Riki)'s troops having eaten Yuan Shao's provisions before leaving, Sun Jian and the troops with him are feeling sick and decide to withdraw from the coalition.
Upon being informed of Sun Jian's departure by Liu Bei (Gōda), Yuan Shu taunts Sun Jian and claims him as nobody special. When the coalition is figuring out who should go take on Hua Xiong (Abobo), Yuan Shu comes up with the excuse that he's unable to go himself as he must manage the provisions. When Guan Yu (Kunio) offers to fight him alone, Yuan Shu tries to change Cao Cao (Yamada)'s mind by voicing his disapproval of sending what he deems as "nobodies" to fight for the coalition. Gongsun Zan (Heilman) backs up the Brothers of the Peach Garden with Yuan Shu being more concerned about their image, though Cao Cao dissolves the argument and has them sent out anyway. Expecting Guan Yu to fail, Yuan Shu and Yuan Shao think of having their armies sweep up Dong Zhuo's troops after the fact while also taking all the credit. Upon Guan Yu's return from defeating Hua Xiong, Yuan Shu asks if he'd like to become the coalition's vanguard in place of Sun Jian, to which Liu Bei agrees and is immediately sent out to face off against Lu Bu (Misuzu).
During the third chapter, Liu Bei receives a letter from the Emperor who's currently under protection from Cao Cao asking them to take out Yuan Shu.
Yūji was added to the China Heroes gamemode as a bonus character that is unlocked by default in the English release of the game. In this gamemode, Yūji has access to parts of his moveset from Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun: Bangai Rantō Hen and River City Melee: Battle Royal Special with his charged or finishing punches being able to inflict poison.
River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next[]
Yūji retains his role as Yuan Shu.
Trivia[]
- Yūji uses many moves from the Double Dragons including the cyclone kick. This is maybe because Bangai Rantō Hen was originally a Double Dragon game according to Koji Ogata.
