River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next (ダウンタウンスペシャル くにおくんの三国志だよ 満員御礼!! Downtown Special Kunio-kun no Sangokushi dayo Man'in orei!! , lit. "Kunio-kun's Romance of the Three Kingdoms Full House!!") is a role-playing beat 'em up game in the Kunio-kun franchise developed by R-Force Entertainment Inc. and published by Arc System Works. The game was announced on July 17, 2024[2] and was released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam on November 6, 2024.
The game is a sequel to River City Saga: Three Kingdoms that has the characters continuing to act out a play during the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history, though now taking place after the Battle of Red Cliffs and leading up to the Battle of Wuzhang Plains.

- Guan Yu (Kunio): The main protagonist of the game, Guan Yu is a righteous general who's admired by many and swore an oath of brotherhood with Liu Bei and Zhang Fei. He is controlled by the first player.
- Guan Ping (Kaoru Sonokawa): The son of Guan Yu who is controlled by the second player. Outside of the tutorial, he is uninvolved in the story.
Shu[]
- Liu Bei (Tsuyoshi Gōda): The first emperor of the State of Shu and the sworn brother of Guan Yu and Zhang Fei.
- Zhang Fei (Susumu Godai): A general in the late Han dynasty and the sworn brother of Guan Yu and Liu Bei.
- Zhuge Liang (Misako): A renowned strategist who is known as the sleeping dragon in Fulong.
- Zhao Yun (Sanjūrō Sugata): A general with great integrity who once served under Gongsun Zan, though would later join Liu Bei's army after Gongsun Zan's passing.
- Mi Zhu (Saori Gōda): A former powerful aristocrat in Xuzhou who'd later serve as a civil officer for Liu Bei.
- Pang Tong (Kaori): A renowned strategist who was also known as the "Young Phoenix". After the Battle of Red Cliffs, she permanently joined the Shu.
- Ma Liang (Minori Yamagami): A scholar who was recruited by Liu Bei as an adviser after being introduced to him by Zhuge Liang.
- Ma Su (Mika Sakagami): A strategist recruited into the Shu and the younger sister of Ma Liang.
- Huang Zhong (Toraichi): A former subordinate of Han Xuan who defected after an honorable duel with Guan Yu. Unlike actual history, Huang Zhong is depicted as a wrestler.
- Wei Yan (Jūzō Kumada): A former subordinate of Liu Cong who fled to Han Xuan after being kicked out of Liu Cong's army. After becoming fed up with Han Xuan, he betrays him and joins Liu Bei's army.
- Yan Yan (Toraji): A former subordinate of Liu Zhang who'd join Liu Bei's army after a fight against Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Similarly to Huang Zhong, Yan Yan is also depicted as a wrestler and teams up with him as the Double Tigers.
- Ma Chao (Kojirō Murasaki): A renowned fighter who joined Liu Bei's army after a duel against Zhang Fei. On the Extra Hard route, this battle is actually depicted with Guan Yu also joining the fray.
- Ma Dai (Raiji Tsuge): The cousin of Ma Chao who fights alongside him. After joining Liu Bei's army with Ma Chao, he becomes a highly trusted figure to Zhuge Liang.
- Jiang Wei (Reika Gojōin): A former Wei general who was able to see through Zhuge Liang's plans and stand toe-to-toe with Zhao Yun and Guan Yu. After being defeated, she is captured and is offered to join the Shu by Zhuge Liang, though is only convinced after becoming enamored by Liu Bei.
- Liao Hua (Hayato Ichijō): A former Yellow Turban bandit who later served in Liu Bei's army.
- Sun Qian (Haruka Nanase): A civil official from Xuzhou who serves Liu Bei at the request of Tao Qian.
- Jian Yong (Noboru Takamine): A civil official in Liu Bei's army who is one of it's oldest members.
- Wang Ping (Kiyono): A former Wei general who leaves after the Battle of Red Cliffs and joins the Shu. He is a recurring gag character throughout the game who is always seen with the others and can be talked to, though he does not participate in any battles during gameplay.
Wu[]
- Sun Quan (Riki): The son of Sun Jian who served as the first emperor of Wu. After being brainwashed by Sima Yi, he breaks the alliance between the Wu and Shu and is fought as the final boss of the third chapter.
- Zhou Yu (Kyōko): A general in Sun Quan's army. In the first chapter, she attempts to lead an attack against Liu Bei without Sun Quan's knowledge and serves as the chapter's final boss. On the Hot-Blooded route, an extra fight occurs after Guan Yu hands her a letter from Zhuge Liang with it's contents enraging her.
- Lu Su (Mami Shimada): A civilian officer in Sun Quan's army. She works with the Shu in the third chapter to bring Sun Quan back to his senses and re-forge their alliance.
- Lu Meng (Wataru Sasaki): An intelligent and brave general in Sun Quan's army. In the third chapter, he enacts a plan to trick Guan Yu into lowering his guard and leaving Jingzhou nearly defenseless. After Sun Quan is brainwashed, he orders Lu Meng to lead the invasion on Jingzhou. On the Hot-Blooded route of the chapter, Lu Meng is fought as a boss during the Wu and Shu's celebration of their re-forged alliance.
- Lu Xun (Tamae Nishino): A military commander in Sun Quan's army who cooperates with Lu Meng in his Jingzhou takeover scheme. She later pursues Guan Yu after assuming that he kidnapped the missing Lu Su.
- Zhou Tai (Hikaru Saotome): A general in Sun Quan's army.
- Gan Ning (Kōichi Shimizu): A violent and flamboyant general in Sun Quan's army.
- Taishi Ci (Mitsuaki Yoshino): A general in Sun Quan's army.
Wei[]
- Cao Cao (Taiki Yamada): A monarch who laid the foundation of Wei. He is fought as the final boss of the second chapter and is rescued by Sima Yi after being defeated. He is later poisoned and subsequently hospitalized by Sima Yi after being unsatisfied with his leadership. After this, he is hidden away in Chang'an as Sima Yi takes over the Wei. A brainwashed Cao Cao is fought as the sub-boss of the final chapter.
- Cao Ren (Takashi Onizuka): A cousin of Cao Cao and a general in his army. In the first chapter, he faces off against Guan Yu and the Wu in Jiangling, though is eventually driven out after falling for a trap setup by Zhou Yu. On the Hard-Liner route, Guan Yu is able to chase after the retreating Cao Ren and fight him and his men in an extra battle. He later fights Guan Yu a few times in the third chapter, though lets him go during their second encounter as part of Cao Cao's orders. Cao Ren later works within the Jin in order to gather forces in opposition of Sima Yi.
- Xiahou Yuan (Ryūji Hattori): A distant relative of Xiahou Dun and a general in Cao Cao's army. He fights Guan Yu and Huang Zhong in the second chapter, though is hospitalized after the fight due to him playing right into their trap. He escapes from the hospital after recovering and reunites with the other Wei generals where they all leave the Jin to search for Cao Cao after suspecting Sima Yi was responsible for his disappearance. On the Hot-Blooded route of the fifth chapter, he and Xiahou Dun face off against Guan Yu.
- Zhang He (Tadashi Kinoshita): A renowned general in Cao Cao's army. He faces off against the Shu a few times during the second chapter and later assists Cao Cao in his battle against them. By the fifth chapter, he is the only Wei general who stuck around in the Jin and leads the attack against Ma Su in Jieting. He fights Guan Yu and Zhang Liao until Wei Yan buys the two enough time to escape. On the Extra Hard route, Zhang He loses all sense of control and fights against Guan Yu and Wei Yan. Upon being defeated, he realizes that he was tricked by Sima Yi and leaves the Jin to continue his search for Cao Cao.
- Xu Huang (Masao Kobayashi): A modest general in Cao Cao's army. He duels Guan Yu in the second chapter and assists Cao Cao in his fight against the Shu after buying him enough time. He confronts Guan Yu in the third chapter and warns him of the Wu's betrayal of their alliance with the Shu. He and Cao Ren fight the visibly tired Guan Yu and let him go as part of Cao Cao's orders. Xu Huang later leaves the Jin in order to gather forces in opposition of Sima Yi.
- Xiahou Dun (Ryūichi Hattori): A cousin of Cao Cao and a general in his army. He assists Cao Cao in his fight against the Shu in the second chapter. He later leaves the Jin with the other Wei generals in search of Cao Cao after suspecting Sima Yi was responsible for his disappearance. On the Hot-Blooded route of the fifth chapter, he and Xiahou Yuan face off against Guan Yu.
- Zhang Liao (Kazumi Hasebe): A calm and collected general in Cao Cao's army who previously served under Lu Bu. She leaves the Jin with the other generals in search of Cao Cao after suspecting Sima Yi was responsible for his disappearance. While on the run from the Jin, she runs into Guan Yu in Jieting who had come to rescue Ma Su. Sharing the same goal, they team up and face off against Zhang He who had them surrounded below. In the final chapter, she assists Guan Yu in his fight against the brainwashed Cao Cao.
- Yu Jin (Kiyofumi Taira): A serious and strict general in Cao Cao's army. He introduces Cao Cao to Pang De and accompanies him in Fancheng where he and his men surrender to Guan Yu in order to eat through the Shu's low amounts of provisions. After being freed from captivity, he visits Cao Cao in the hospital with Pang De, though the two fall into Sima Yi's trap and are brainwashed by one of his assassins. The two fight Guan Yu in the fifth chapter and are brought back to normal after their antennas are dislodged during the fight. The two leave in search of Cao Cao.
- Pang De (Kyōsuke Otonashi): A former subordinate of Ma Chao who defected to Cao Cao's army shortly before he joined Liu Bei's army. He faces off against Guan Yu twice in the third chapter and is later brainwashed by one of Sima Yi's assassins after falling for one of his traps while visiting Cao Cao at the hospital. In the fifth chapter, he fights Guan Yu alongside Yu Jin and is brought back to normal after his brainwashing antenna is dislodged after the fight. The two leave in search of Cao Cao afterwards.
- Yue Jin (Shun Mochizuki): A general in Cao Cao's army known for his quickness. He later leaves the Jin with the other Wei generals in search of Cao Cao after suspecting Sima Yi was responsible for his disappearance. Sometime after, he is captured after falling for Sima Yi's trap and is brainwashed. He faces off against Jiang Wei, Ma Dai, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei and is returned back to normal after being defeated. He then leaves to search for the other Wei generals.
- Cao Chun (Nakamura): A general in Cao Cao's army. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Cheng Yu (Kawada): A general in Cao Cao's army. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Han Hao (Kasai): A general in Cao Cao's army. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Xiahou En (Ishioka): A fictional general in Cao Cao's army who only appears in the novel. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Man Chong (Aoki): A general in Cao Cao's army. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Xu Chu (Munetatsu): A general in Cao Cao's army. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Wen Ping (Toge): A general in Cao Cao's army. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Li Dian (Ōta): A general in Cao Cao's army. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Cao Hong (Katō): A cousin of Cao Cao and a general in his army. He appears as a generic enemy.
Jin[]
- Sima Yi (Michael Tobioka): The main antagonist of the game. He is a famous tactician who once worked under Cao Cao, though frustrated with his leadership would betray him by poisoning him and having him hidden away in Chang'an so he can take control over the Wei. He renames the Wei to the Jin and begins acting on his master plan of replacing humans with his robots. In the finale he is confronted by Guan Yu in his secret base and unleashes his ultimate creation, Robo Guan Yu, as a last ditch effort.
- Sima Shi (RK300-1): The eldest son of Sima Yi. In the final chapter, he and Sima Shao fight Guan Yu and Jiang Wei in order to retrieve the former's battle data. Later during the finale, they both fight Guan Yu, Jiang Wei, and Lu Xun in order to buy Sima Yi time to flee to Chang'an. They return to him afterwards with Sima Shi guarding the entrance to Sima Yi's secret base.
- Sima Shao (RK300-2): The second son of Sima Yi. In the final chapter, he joins Sima Shi in his fights against Guan Yu until they return to Chang'an. In Sima Yi's secret base, Sima Shao guards the passage to the Underground Cemetery and faces off against Guan Yu, Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, Cao Ren, and Xu Huang.
- Hao Zhao (Robo-Onizuka): A military commander in Sima Yi's army. He faces off against Guan Yu and Wei Yan in the fifth chapter, though after the fight he flees to Chencang for repairs. He is later fought again as the chapter's final boss.
- Zhong Hui (ShingoFJ2): A young military commander in Sima Yi's army. He views himself as being superior to everyone else and is not particularly loyal to Sima Yi. In the final chapter, he fights Guan Yu alongside Deng Ai. During the finale he is talked into opening the gates for the enemy after being told that the Shu will save him the time of betraying Sima Yi himself, though ends up fighting anyway after insulting Liu Bei which enraged Jiang Wei.
- Deng Ai (Robobo): A famous general in Sima Yi's army. In the final chapter, he fights Guan Yu alongside Zhong Hui and later reappears during the finale to face off against Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Huang Zhong, and Ma Chao.
- Robo Guan Yu (Robo-Kunio): A robot created by Sima Yi that shares Guan Yu's likeness and was trained off his battle data. He serves as the final boss of the game.
Other[]
- Technos-Tei: The narrator who gives an introduction to each chapter and a brief recap of the important events that happened at the end of a chapter.
- Horse Merchant (Shinji): Previously known as the Red Hare, it is revealed that he was only the operator and that the name actually belonged to the bike he rode. He is able to be talked to throughout the game to customize the player's bike and will additionally be apart of some sidequests.
- Meng Huo (Sakata): The self proclaimed King of Nanzhong. He is contacted by Sima Yi to cause a rebellion in the area in order to distract the Shu. Throughout the fourth chapter, he is captured by Zhuge Liang seven times and would often run to a member of the Nanzhong Lion Association when he was let go in order to get their help. At one point, he attempts to impersonate Jinhuan Sanjie as a way to intimidate the Shu.
- Dong Tu Na (Ukyō): A fictional character from the novel who is apart of the Nanzhong Lion Association. In the fourth chapter, he and Ahui Nan confront the Shu after being informed by Meng Huo that they've allegedly come to attack Nanzhong. On the Hot-Blooded Route, he will partake in the group fight against Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, and Wei Yan.
- Ahui Nan (Sakyō Azuma): A fictional character from the novel who is apart of the Nanzhong Lion Association. In the fourth chapter, he accompanies Dong Tu Na in his fight against the Shu and later partakes in the group fight on the Hot-Blooded route.
- King Duosi (Ginjishi): A fictional character from the novel who is apart of the Nanzhong Lion Association. In the fourth chapter, he sets up a poisonous trap for the Shu and faces off against Guan Yu and Wei Yan. In their second encounter, he fights Guan Yu and Zhao Yun and is defeated. He later participates in the group fight against the three on the Hot-Blooded Route.
- Zhurong (Benijishi): A fictional character from the novel who is apart of the Nanzhong Lion Association. In the fourth chapter, she faces off against the Shu and later partakes in the group fight on the Hot-Blooded Route.
- King Mulu (Shishiō): A fictional character from the novel who is the leader of the Nanzhong Lion Association. In the fourth chapter, he fights the Shu using his elite troops of animals which forces them to retreat. With the help of a strategy from Zhuge Liang, the Shu are able to distract King Mulu's animals and force him into using human troops. On the Extra Hard Route, the Shu will instead bruteforce their way through his animal troops. After being captured, he informs the Shu that they'll need to take on Wutugu if they wish to form an alliance. On the Hot-Blooded Route, King Mulu will participate in the group fight against Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, and Wei Yan.
- Wutugu (Majishi): A fictional character from the novel who is apart of the Nanzhong Lion Association. He serves as the final boss of the fourth chapter and will additionally participate in the Hot-Blooded Route's group fight at the end.
- Jinhuan Sanjie (Kinjishi): A fictional character from the novel who is apart of the Nanzhong Lion Association. He serves as the fourth chapter's secret boss and will only appear on the Hot-Blooded Route to partake in the group fight against Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, and Wei Yan.
- Lu Bu (Misuzu): A former general that once served under Dong Zhuo and was feared across the nation. She appears as part of a sidequest and can be recruited into the Brawl Buddies Tactic.
- Yuan Shao (Mamoru Tōdō): A former warlord of the Han dynasty who was defeated by Cao Cao. He appears as part of a sidequest and can be recruited into the Brawl Buddies Tactic.
- Yuan Shu (Yūji Munakata): A former military commander and the cousin of Yuan Shao. He appears as part of a sidequest and can be recruited into the Brawl Buddies Tactic.

- Zhang Lu (Naritaka Nishimura): The third founder of the Five Pecks of Rice. This is only Zhang Jiao under a new alias, as he's still on the run from Cao Cao. He appears as part of a sidequest.
- Zhang Wei (Yasuo Sawaguchi): A military commander in the Five Pecks of Rice and the younger brother of Zhang Lu. Like Zhang Lu, he is only Zhang Bao using a new alias. He appears as part of a sidequest.
- Fei Zhan (Yasuaki Tsubaki): One of the leaders of the Shanyue bandits, a rebel group that oppose Sun Quan's rule. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Yu Du (Kyōsuke): A former Yellow Turban bandit and general under Tao Qian. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Zhang Yan (Kamui): The Chieftain of the Black Mountain Bandits, a group of thieves who rose to prominence by taking advantage of the Yellow Turban Rebellion. He appears as a generic enemy.
- Liu Qi: The eldest son of Liu Biao. He is able to be talked to in Gong'an during the first chapter.
