River City: Rival Showdown is a remake of Downtown Nekketsu Story. The game takes place before River City Super Sports Challenge ~All Stars Special~.
In the story mode, Nishimura is first seen on the evening of the first day with Yasuo Sawaguchi at the Midoricho Shops. The two run into Kunio and Nishimura challenges Kunio to a fight at the abandoned warehouse, as he believes fighting in the street is not an ideal location. Nishimura then goes to wait at the top floor of the warehouse and fights Kunio once he arrives. Upon being defeated, Nishimura pleads for mercy and proposes an alliance to help take down Kinoshita, who currently has Hakutaka Industrial High School under his thumb. If Kunio accepts his proposal, Nishimura will lay out the strategy and time for the following day. If Kunio instead decides to decline Nishimura's alliance, he will get angry and have a rematch fight with Sawaguchi and some Hakutaka students joining the mix.
On the second day, Nishimura and Sawaguchi arrive to the warehouse late when Kunio has already dealt with Kinoshita. The two were hoping to get in on some of the action and expressed their disappointment, though are surprised when Kinoshita gets up for a third time. Kinoshita calls Nishimura a backstabber, though Nishimura argues that he never wanted to be under his thumb in the first place and was sick of his party ticket scam. Nishimura challenges Kinoshita to a brawl and get angry with him when he attacks Sawaguchi. Upon the group defeating Kinoshita and his goons, Nishimura expresses his gratitude to Kunio for helping him free his school from Kinoshita and tells Kunio that they owe him a favor for whenever he's in a pinch.
During the final day on the true ending, Nishimura and Sawaguchi will show up to Reihō Academy to assist Kunio and Riki in their fight against Kinoshita. When Kinoshita is defeated by the group, he tells Kunio that he and Sawaguchi will hold the fort so nobody gets past them, though decides to team up with Sanjūrō Sugata and Haruka Nanase the floor below when they hear Kinoshita starting to get back up. When Kunio finds Nishimura and Sawaguchi with Sugata and Nanase, Nishimura explains that he thought the two might've ran into some trouble and that having a group of four fighting together would ensure they wouldn't be defeated.
In Riki's Story, Nishimura appears alongside Sawaguchi during the final day and demands Riki to hand over his belt. With Tsuneo Kamijō and Noriyuki Yamamoto joining the mix to also take Riki's belt, Nishimura threatens the two with violence and assures that he will be the one to take the belt. He then joins the three in the fight against Riki.

River City Saga: Three Kingdoms[]
Nishimura plays the role of Zhang Jiao, one out of three brothers leading the Yellow Turbans.
Zhang Jiao is first mentioned during the first chapter where he sends a notice to the Yellow Turbans to gather at Jieqiao to prepare for an attack. This letter was left behind inside of the secret hideout in Handan and found by Liu Bei (Gōda) when the area was cleared by him, Guan Yu (Kunio), and Zhang Fei (Godai). In the hot-blooded route of this chapter, Zhang Jiao and Zhang Liang (Nedachi) will join Zhang Bao (Sawaguchi) during the final battle against the Brothers of the Peach Garden.
Nishimura was added to the China Heroes gamemode as a bonus character that is unlocked by default in the English release of the game. In this gamemode, Nishimura is able to use the Charge Punch, Slap Special, a variation of the Hell Wheels, a variation of the Explosive Shot for thrown weapons, Basho Flash with a fan equipped, and the Super Yellow Turban Attack as his super special.
River City Girls 2[]
Nishimura retains his previous role as a clerk at Book Bistro in Downtown.
River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next[]
Nishimura plays the role of Zhang Lu, the third founder of the Five Pecks of Rice.
Zhang Lu and his younger brother Zhang Wei (Sawaguchi) are able to be talked to in the second chapter as part of a sidequest. While on the run from Cao Cao (Yamada)'s army, they run into Guan Yu (Kunio) and insist that they are not related to the Yellow Turban leaders Zhang Jiao and Zhang Bao respectively. Guan Yu doesn't believe their claims and points out how they have the same faces as them, though Zhang Lu continues to lie about not being the same person and asks Guan Yu to not make a big fuss about their whereabouts as they are trying to keep a low profile. Zhang Wei insists that they don't have to flee from Cao Cao's army and that they'd be able to take them on if they gave it their all, though Zhang Lu brings up how badly they got beaten during the Yellow Turban Rebellion and how there's no chance of them winning if they're outnumbered.
Guan Yu then becomes certain that the two are indeed Zhang Jiao and Zhang Bao after they had brought up the Yellow Turban Rebellion, though suddenly a Cao Cao troop spots the two and gets ready to capture them. Zhang Lu asks his brother to back down and let their new recruit Guan Yu handle the situation instead. Upon clearing out the enemies, Zhang Lu realizes they're no match for Cao Cao's army in their current state and decides that they should surrender to Cao Cao in order to gradually convert his army into members of the Five Pecks of Rice. He then bribes Guan Yu into not spoiling their plans before leaving.
