Appearances[]
River City: Rival Showdown[]
River City: Rival Showdown is a remake of Downtown Nekketsu Story.
Makoto would be spotted by Yamada prior to the main events and inspire him with his simplistic violent characteristics. Makoto would eventually bring Yamada under his wing as an accomplice upon realizing he too had powers and would teach him what he knew while terrorizing the people on Kotobuki Road. Yamada would eventually decide to betray Makoto when he felt like his strength outmatched him and he no longer viewed him as anyone special.
Three months prior to the main story, Yamada would come to Makoto and let him know that he plans on making a fresh start for himself and wanted to close a chapter. Makoto ignores his comment and asks for his help in beating someone up, though Yamada quickly makes it clear to him that he's turning against him and no longer has any interest in harassing random people on the street. Yamada offers to take Makoto under his wing to avoid fighting, but this instead enrages Makoto and they begin to fight. Upon being beaten, Yamada brainwashes Makoto to stay at his house for the rest of time.
In the main story, Makoto is first mentioned by Mika Sakagami on the third day in her meeting with Kunio at the arcade. Mika mentions that he has a ferocious temper, that she's talked to him multiple times before, and that there was a Reihō Academy student who'd frequently hang out with him that she was unable to remember the name of. Later at night, Mika would remember who Yamada is and upon seeing Makoto would ask him how Yamada was doing, though this enraged Makoto and Mika would attempt to escape, though she'd end up hurt outside of Three Castle. Once Mika was taken to the hospital, Kunio would stop by Starpark Café to talk to Akira Shinoda and Masutā about what happened, though their conversation would be interrupted by Makoto who would walk in enraged and attack Shinoda. Appearing to have a breakdown, Kunio fights Makoto twice and checks in on Shinoda after finishing.
Kunio heads inside of Three Castle and would talk to Makoto's twin sister Minori Yamagami. She informs Kunio that Mika decided to quit her job and questions him if Mika mentioned anything about Makoto. Kunio replies saying that she mentioned Makoto and Yamada's previous friendship with Minori confirming that it was the root cause of it all. Minori explains their falling out and that Makoto has become a husk of his former self ever since Yamada brainwashed him, though has recently recovered and returned to Kotobuki Road. Rina Deguchi would then rush into the building and try to alert the two that somebody sinister is in the area, though would be grabbed and choked by an angry Makoto. He gets ready to punch her, though Kunio blocks his fist and asks him about Yamada, which enrages him further and sends Rina up into the air. Kunio catches Rina and hands her to Minori asking them to leave before he starts his third fight against Makoto. Upon being defeated, Makoto sits down on the ground and breaks into tears with Minori coming back to take him to the hospital. Minori later meets Kunio at Starpark Café to thank him more personally and reveals that Makoto is her twin brother. Minori suspects that he's went on a rampage as of late because he remembered Yamada and would reveal to Kunio that he once told her Yamada's reason for fighting was that he had unfinished business. The two would realize that Yamada was referring to Kunio himself.
In Riki's story, Makoto is summoned by Yamada inside of Reihō Academy as the final boss. Riki is confused and believes Makoto to be the god that he was talking to, though Yamada instead claims that he summoned him to test Riki if he's worth being called the strongest opponent. During the fight, Makoto will be assisted by attacks from Yamada.
River City Saga: Three Kingdoms[]
Makoto plays the role of Lu Boshe, an uncle of Cao Cao (Yamada).
In the story mode, Lu Boshe first appears during the second chapter and spots Cao Cao at his house while he's on the run from Dong Zhuo (Sabu)'s army after his failed assassination attempt on him. After greeting Cao Cao, Lu Boshe questions why he's in such a hurry and goes to prepare dinner for him. Paranoid, Cao Cao believes Lu Boshe making dinner is a ruse and that he may be planning on capturing him. Lu Boshe returns and notices that Cao Cao is looking restless, but is stabbed by Cao Cao in the stomach as he then goes to kill anyone else currently in the house. Guan Yu (Kunio) will later notice the large presence of officials in Puyang, where they are each talking about Lu Boshe's murder and trying to figure out who was responsible.
