In the story mode, Zuo Ci is first mentioned in the comedy route of chapter five by Zhuge Liang (Misako), who suggests to Guan Yu (Kunio) that because of their low reputation, he may be the only person who'd be able to help them. Zhuge Liang comes up with the strategy that if Zuo Ci transforms into Cao Cao (Yamada), they may be able to stop his invasion. Zuo Ci is found nearby Zhuge Liang's house in Longzhong hiding away below the mountains, which must be destroyed using the earthquake tactic. Upon meeting Zuo Ci, he proceeds to play mind games with Guan Yu on whether he actually has powers or not, which gets Guan Yu angry as he starts a fight with him. After being defeated, Zuo Ci compliments Guan Yu and asks what he wanted, to which Guan Yu asks if he'd be able to assist them in stopping Cao Cao from advancing. Zuo Ci agrees and meets back up with Guan Yu at the Fan Castle to discuss their plans. Zuo Ci leaves without giving a clear answer, though Liu Bei (Gōda) would later inform Guan Yu that Cao Cao's troops started doing the samba and had a dance parade. On the hot-blooded route, Zuo Ci will pose as Cao Cao to setup a trap for the brothers in Ye.
