Kusuhara is an antagonist featured in Stay Cool, Kobayashi-san!: A River City Ransom Story. He is the mentor of Mizoguchi and Yugo and was believed to have died in an accident, though would actually fake his death.
Background[]
Kusuhara would get back into contact with Yugo and would place him under a hypnosis effect to serve under him. Under his orders, Yugo apologizes to Mizoguchi and claims to be the one responsible for all that's been happening and then brings out Kusuhara in hopes that Mizoguchi would listen to what he had to say. Kusuhara asks Mizoguchi if he still remembers who he is which shocks Mizoguchi as he believed Kusuhara was dead. Kusuhara admits that he faked his death and that is was all apart of his plan. Putting the topic aside, he asks Mizoguchi if he'd like to become his partner and claims that he'd be a step up from Yugo, though gets angry when he isn't given an answer. Kusuhara then expresses his belief that letting Mizoguchi and Yugo's bloodline stick around would be too dangerous for making a better future and decides to fight him.
Upon being defeated, Kusuhara is astonished by his misprediction of the future and questions who else from the future is behind meddling with the current time period. Realizing that the current timeline has a different future, he mentions that the negative energy given to Yamada, the abundant power that inspires people of the future, and the suppression of the Nekketsu Power was all part of their grand plan, though states that it's now all ruined. Kusuhara compliments Mizoguchi's abilities and informs him that the hypnosis on Yugo can be easily undone. He asks him to keep fighting for a peaceful future.
