Ichijō (一条, いちじょう), full name Hayato Ichijō (一条勇人, いちじょう はやと), is a first year student at Nekketsu High School that was first featured in Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day!. Suffering from asthma since elementary school and bullied throughout junior high school, he is a relatively weak character. He has since been able to overcome his weaknesses with techniques he was able to learn from an old man named Miyagi. His strength is in using weapons.
Ichijō admires Kunio and works everyday towards being like him, though he also does this in hopes of becoming popular with the girls.[1]

On the way to Neidard, Cooney Valford will come across Ijō and rescue him from a group of slimes. Upon clearing the enemies, he thanks Cooney for what he's done and mentions that he's embarked on a journey to the city of Mywad, though stops himself from explaining any further before asking Cooney if he can join his party. The player is then given the option to add him to the party.
River City Super Sports Challenge ~All Stars Special~[]
This remake of Super-Awesome Field Day re-imagines the events of that game. The story takes place after River City: Rival Showdown.
In the story mode, Ichijō is first seen participating in the screening for Nekketsu High School's team as the school gets ready to enter the tournament. Ichijō is seen training on the following day with the new freshman and appears exhausted after finishing, though is immediately love-struck and motivated when Satomi Momozono hands him a towel and compliments his efforts. Sanjūrō Sugata then disappointedly asks him to work hard even without Momozono watching. After the unexpected practice match against Reihō Academy, Ichijō is seen with the rest of his team completely worn out and tired.
Before the second round of the qualifiers, Momozono asks Ichijō to fill in for Sugata as he was injured in a bomb accident the day prior. Ichijō appears reluctant and thinks of going to the bathroom in an attempt to sneak away and go home, though the new freshman suspects he was planning this and calls him out. Momozono believes he'll be fine and encourages him to participate as he's been present at practice. During the ending of the qualifiers, Ichijō is seen celebrating their victory with the team and immediately is distracted by a girl passing by (really Haruka Nanase in disguise) to give Kunio a gift. Ichijō appears jealous of Kunio getting the attention of girls and runs off in hopes of getting some as well.
Ichijō is later seen with his team at Nekketsu's booth before the first match waiting for Kunio to arrive, though starts to go into a panic once the tournament's rules are changed by Mamoru Tōdō stating that the team's captain must be present in order to continue participating. Ichijō agrees on Nanase's suggestion of selecting the new freshman as their new captain. During the ending of the first match, Ichijō attempts to crack a joke about Kunio's situation, though immediately feels embarrassed after everybody else remained silent and asks for everybody to never mention what he said. Before the second match starts, Hiroshi comes to warn the team that Tsuyoshi Gōda's team is participating in the next match, to which Ichijō recognizes who he is and notes that he's someone who deserves all the praise, though becomes shocked after realizing that because Gōda's followers are also participating, there will be worse odds for Nekketsu's team.
During the ending of the tournament, Ichijō appears disappointed that he was unable to meet any girls from the other schools. Noboru Takamine believes that was because they weren't able to take the spotlight, though Momozono disagrees and thinks that they've all done very well. Ichijō asks Momozono which part he did best in, though Momozono struggles to think of something to say. Ichijō then runs off in disappointment.

Ichijō can be played during or outside of the story mode and is able to use the Hurricane. Ijo can be played outside of the story mode and is able to use the Mach Bash and the Super Dash.

Ichijō returns as a member of Nekketsu High School's team and as a member of the Nekketsu Magical Story team as Ijo and are both involved in the story mode. Ichijō is able to use the Lariat and the Hurricane while Ijo is able to use the Nitro Attack and the Mach Strike.

River City Saga: Three Kingdoms[]
Ichijō plays the role of Liao Hua, a former Yellow Turban bandit who would later serve in Liu Bei (Gōda)'s army.
Liao Hua first appears in the third chapter as a job request Guan Yu (Kunio) is able to take, where Liao Hua and Jian Yong (Takamine) are looking for a sparring partner. Guan Yu is able to accept the request and ask the two if they were the one who put up the request, to which Jian Yong reveals that Liao Hua was the one who actually put down the request as he suddenly had an interest in wanting to get stronger. Jian Yong attempted to convince him not to pursue this, though was unable to change his mind. Upon being defeated, Liao Hua comments that he was able to learn a lot.
In the comedy route of the fourth chapter, Liao Hua will assist Zhang Fei (Godai) in his fight against Guan Yu and Zhao Yun (Sugata).
During the final chapter, Liao Hua is seen in Ezhou with Liu Pi (Morimoto) as part of a side quest. Liao Huo appears worried if they'll be able to to succeed against fighting Cao Cao (Yamada), to which Liu Pi asks that he calms down as he'll pass those worries to him if he continues. Guan Yu overhears the commotion and offers to help ease Liao Hua's worries by sparring with them. Upon being defeated, Liao Hua states that he feels more relaxed and thanks Guan Yu.

Ichijō retains his role as Liao Hua.
