River City Saga: Three Kingdoms[]
Guan Yu is seen during the ending of the final chapter on the comedy route. After Kunio defeats Riki (Sun Quan) in a fight, everyone attempts to stay in character, though Susumu Godai questions if they were even supposed to beat Sun Quan in the story. Kunio believes it to be fine as he's the main character, though Kyōko angrily yells at Kunio to do things properly. Misako tells the group that they were supposed to be working with Riki and calls Kunio, Tsuyoshi Gōda, and Godai dumb. Kunio continues to believe what happened was close enough to what happened in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, though is immediately shocked upon seeing the real Guan Yu appear.
Guan Yu is angry with Kunio and states that although it is a Kunio-kun game, there are limits to be respected. He tells Kunio to come back after studying about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and demands that he learns how to do something else other than blindly fight.
River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next[]
Guan Yu appears on the Extra Hard route after Kunio defeats Robo-Kunio (Robo Guan Yu) in the final chapter. He introduces himself to Kunio as the real Guan Yu and explains that he's been watching their unique reenactment of the Three Kingdoms, though admits that he mistakenly shown himself after he had ran into Godai earlier. Guan Yu then asks Kunio if he'd like to fight against him. If accepted, the player will face off against Guan Yu who acts as a green palette swap of Kunio. Although many of his moves are shared with the player, Guan Yu is able to perform some of the ultimate moves from other characters. Upon being defeated, Guan Yu is impressed by Kunio's fighting prowess, though the conversation is cut short as the building continues to collapse from the force of the battle they had. Guan Yu then teleports Kunio back outside.
