Ōta (大田) is a student at Reihō Academy who was first featured in River City: Rival Showdown. He admires Shun Mochizuki and his best friend Ryōma Hayasaka, referring to himself as Mochizuki's number one disciple. Ōta tries to integrate himself into their circle by running errands.[1]

River City: Rival Showdown is a remake of Downtown Nekketsu Story. The game takes place before River City Super Sports Challenge ~All Stars Special~.
Three months prior to the main story, Ōta is seen with Mochizuki at Hanazono Park. Upon Mochizuki's defeat to Taiki Yamada, Ōta checks if he's okay to which Mochizuki comments on how strong of a fighter Yamada is. Ōta is knocked down to the ground after Yamada uses his brainwashing technique on everyone. With the brainwashing only affecting Ōta, he gets up and immediately starts thinking about getting stronger at the gym.
In the main story, Ōta first appears during the second night where he will rush into Hanazono Park with some Reihō Academy students to check in on the defeated Hayasaka. Glad that backup has arrived, Hayasaka explains to Ōta that Kunio has beaten up Mochizuki with the two then starting a second fight. Upon being defeated, Ōta appears bewildered about Kunio's strength and gets back up ready to fight again when students from Numaoka Industrial High School arrive to assist them. Defeated for the third time, Mochizuki regains consciousness with Ōta suggesting that he leaves the fight to them instead, though Mochizuki refuses as he doesn't wish to be left out of a fight. When Mochizuki gives out the identity of Kunio, Ōta respects his street fighting history.
During the final day, Ōta will appear inside of Reihō Academy and assist Mochizuki in his fight against Kunio and Riki.
River City Saga: Three Kingdoms[]
Ōta plays the role of Li Dian, a general in Cao Cao (Yamada)'s army.
In the story mode, Li Dian can first be talked to during the beginning of the fourth chapter in Xu's stables where he will call Guan Yu (Kunio) a brainless muscle-head and question Cao Cao's tastes. On the fifth chapter, Li Dian will assist Xiahou Dun (Ryūichi) in his fight against Guan Yu, Zhang Fei (Godai) and Zhuge Liang (Misako) in Bowang as a mini-boss. Li Dian will later appear as an enemy in Dangyang during the chapter's finale while no boss fight is active. In the comedy route of the final chapter, Li Dian will appear as a mini-boss when Guan Yu goes up against Cao Cao's generals alone.

Ōta retains his role as Li Dian.
